    Hey

I'm after a laptop for University, one that I can take back and forth with me. I've been looking at the 1300 mainly because it's cheap but I'm tempted by the performance and size of the 630m.

I don't intend to game on it, I just need a laptop that is easily portable and has good battery life and can handle running a few apps at once, like winamp, internet, word, msn & aim for example.

My only concern with the 1300m is it's size and weight, I was wondering if anyone here had one that they move around with them fairly often, and how they find it?

I prefer everything about the 630m, apart from the design (silver & white) and the price tag.

There are offers on both of these ending tonight (I'm in the UK) so if I'm going to get either I need to decide tonight and was hoping some users of either could shed some light and give me some advice.

    Thanks in advance.

    Get i630 you won't regret ;)
It's not heavy if you will not customized it much and if you'll get 6-cell battery only.

You might want to fill out the FAQ in the "What to buy" forum. Then post it will all of it filled out and see what is recommended. Chaz is one of the best at that. :)

Just specify you are looking for a Dell. :)

ok thanks, I didn't know about that. I'll post it unless I buy one or other of the Dells tonight, as I don't have much time. The only reason I chose the Dells was becuase of good past experience and good pricing compared to others I'd looked at.

Yes, I love Dells prices and if you can get coupons...it is even better.

I had the same problem. Ordered my I9300 in November and now it has been replaced. :(

    Two things:
    1) If you don't take advantage of the deals tonight, I'm sure there will be more tomorrow (literally - not metaphorically).
    2) If you fill out the FAQ, you might not want to specify that it has to be a Dell. I would suggest specifying that you know you are interested in Dell, but not only in Dell.

I ordered the 630m on Friday night, but after looking again at the reviews and benchmarks from the reviews on this site it seems that apart from battery life it's only slightly better than the 1300.

Considering I'm only doing fairly basic tasks I'm wondering if I've wasted money and should cancel and re-order a 1300.

Am I missing something that makes the 630m that much better?

Entertainment applications, wireless solution, light weight and battery life are the features of i630m that makes it better than 1300 :)
