I have a Inspiron 1318 that I bought in July 2009. I plan to send it in repair soon due to several accidents.

Before I send it for repair, I would like to know if it is possible to request a motherboard change. I purchased a motherboard with a Core 2 Duo T6500 and a GMA x3100. I would like to change the motherboard to one with a Geforce 8400 GS. Would they honor this request? Has anyone made a swap like this before?

    Thanks in advance

If they let you do it, you'll have to pay. But they most likely won't let you do it; I think they're pretty adamant about giving you parts from the configuration that you ordered. I know some people couldn't even get their boards downgraded.

That being said, I don't think you want to get your board "upgraded" given the track record of the 8400, etc.
