    If I was to go with the 9 cell instead of the 6 cell, how far out the back would the battery stick out?

    From what I measured, it sticks out 1.8 cm at the top and 2 cm from the bottom (1420 chassis is slightly curved at the back).

    I have seen it in practice also . . . I like the cleaner look of the 6 cell, but agree that the protrusion should not be a deal breaker if battery life is an important concern!
