Well my friends I believe I spoke too soon on my display being problem-free. I have a sec 4457 1440x900 w/TL and I thought it was fine at first glance. However, as days go on and I keep using it, I cant help but notice there are some horizonal "whiter" lines in between other "good (perfect color output)" lines. Id say for every 3 good lines, theres 1 white line. This is quite noticeable (at 2 feet distance from the display) in the aero glass, and pretty much in every picture. Im wondering if this can be resolved with a driver update, or if Im simply one of the unlucky ones.....

In order to be sure this isnt normal, I want people with the same display (or other displays) to please comment on the situation. Do you see the white lines, or is the aero glass perfectly transparent?

    Thank you.

    hi there,

i too have the sec 4457. i've had a close look at the screen. currently i am using it with a 22" chimei monitor and dual display with the notebook screen. when i first started up the notebook, i did notice something a little different. i wasnt sure whether this was grain. but i was apprehensive after reading up all the threads on here. i was glad not to have an auo it seems. you might be right after the very fine lines, but i really really really have to look hard to notice it. the backlight bleed is probs more noticeable. but the high resolution for this size screen makes it not so noticeable i believe. especially in windows. i cant really say i see lines, but it does not look as smooth as on my chimei.

What about other people? Does anyone actually have a perfect-looking screen?

I don't see any white lines. I have 2 1420, one is going back cuz it has defective headphone jack noise. Both hsa AUO screen 1440x900. No white lines. I had experienced with horizontal white lines on my 17" Dell monitor before. Most noticeable at right lower corner of the screen. I used it for 6 months thinking it will repair itself, but I ended up getting a refurbished replacement without white lines. I would suggest you bring your laptop to compare with other people's laptop. If others also see it, it's defective.

I have a 1420 with SEC4457 1440x900 TL. The screen looks awesome, no white lines. It has a little light bleed on the bottom. Only noticable if you are looking for it.
