i am wondering what kind of times people are getting for when they put their computer into sleep mode. i have disabled hibernation and rely only on sleep; just like i did with my 700m with Vista Home Premium. however, i have noticed a big difference between the two. my 1420 takes about twice as long to go into sleep mode compared to my 700m with the same number of processes running and the same types of programs. i matched all the power settings to be the same on both machines but yet i cant get the time down to around the 700m (about 5 seconds to go into sleep). what is everyone else getting for times? any suggestions/recommendations? i'd appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Couldn't tell you. I want it either on or off. I don't do the sleep thing. Sorry. Though I'm betting your 700m isn't running Vista.

really? how many processes you have running at the that time? what are your power settings like? my screen will go off but the system wont go to sleep until 10-15 seconds later.

I've noticed this as well, it does take a reasonably long time...I also find that resuming does some funny stuff too. I see the POST screen for a second, and I also see other funny stuff as well.
