    Inspiron 1420 and Windows 7. My experience. Driver suggestion.

    Hello,

    Last two weeks I did many experiments with my Inspiron 1420. I installed several OS, like Win Server 2008 R2, Win 7 32 bit (upgrade from Vista), win 7 32 bit (clean install), Win 7 x64 and finally Win Vista x64 bit. I previously was running vista home premium 32bit.

    The best OS was IMHO Win 7 x64bit. It was fast and I liked it a lot. the only issue was the sound especially when I was using skype.

    I made it work with generic sound drivers from vista but some problems remained.

    I wonder if it is possible to find Win 7 native drivers for :
    SigMaTEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD.

    This is the only driver which might cause some problems.

    Everything else works perfectly. I am a little sad to turn to Vista x64 just because of some issues of my sound card and Skype.
