how long your new inspiron 1420 battery can serve you??

is it normal to last less than 2hrs??

however, i have a nvidia gc. Is it because the gc that consume batt faster?
im not playing any games, just surfing and doing some typing.

my screen brightness is 75%, wifi on, no music, resolution 1440 x 900...
emmm...not sure what other info needed.

    my specs are as follows:

Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo 1.66GHz
    2GB DDR2
    120GB SATA Hard Drive
    128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
    Windows Vista Business

You can try underclocking, low battery modes etc. when you are only doing simple task. Assuming a 6 cell battery, it should be lasting more than 2 hours under those circumstances. The battery in my 1500 lasts 3-4 hours with simple tasks and 2 hours when gaming.

With dim setting and casual wifi web browsing, I am getting near 3 hours with the 6 cell.

gunner and val 32, how u can get that long???

can u suggest why mine only can get 2hrs??

is it because of the battery??

or is it because, Dell deliver this 1420 already update my bios, where no more teeee sound but trade off is consume battery faster???

Try making sure your battery setting is set to "Dell recommended". It's possible that it is on "High Performance".
Also, try lowering the screen brightness to about mid-bright.

Which CPU do you have in your 1420? Those with longer time are with T7100 or higher. The T7xxx processors have lower energy consumption.

Yes, I know. I saw it in your profile. I am asking the OP (Tam07). I think he has a T5450 which is less energy efficient.

I get 9 hours on my 9 cell as well. I use the power saver plan on Vista, but adjust the plug-in values to not sleep the screen so soon. Also turn off Vista Aero and any transparency bullcrap.
