My 1420 was pretty much ordered at max specs. I got the T7500 (which I kinda regret), 160GB (7200RPM), Nvidia 8400 Card, now I'm considering putting 4GB of ram (upgrading from 2GB). Is this sucker just gonna fry? I've never owned a notebook so it's hard for me to tell right now if it's getting too hot.

Will the ram upgrade make it even warmer?

Install a monitoring application like NHC so you can track temp, just because it feels hot to you means nothing, make sure CPU and HDD are running at safe temps. The burns on your fingers and hands will heal!

The Dell 14x0 notebooks seem fairly well cooled. I doubt you would have an issue however its a good idea to keep an eye on the temps with that CPU.

Obviously Dell designed that notebook to take all those components, so I don't see why it would fry just cuz u maxed out ur specs. Another thing, memory is not the warmest thing in ur notebook, so u can put 80 gigs in there and it would still be fine. Theres no differnce in 2 1gb sticks and 2 2gb sticks. There are still 2 sticks of identical physical size. What does produce the most heat is ur processor and gpu. So dont worry about the amount of ram and heat.

I mean if you were putting in there a desktop cpu and a 8700gt, then yes I would say ur computer will fry. But as long as all ur specs are what dell provides, so nothing aftermarket drawing more power, then you shouldn't be worrying about overheating, especially from merely more ram.

just wondering.....why do you regret getting the T7500? Extra heat or price not worth the extra performance?
