Any links or good write-ups on things to do to increase performance of a new Inspiron 1420 with Vista and 2GB RAM - or just a good write-up on things to do to increase Vista performance? I have already selected 'High Performance' Mode and would like to increase overall general performance. When I got my 1705 with XP about a year and a half ago, I found a really nice document of all the tweaks and mods to do to XP to increase performance (like speeding up start-up and shutdown times, etc. etc.). Thanks!
I have already did a disk clean-up and defrag and there really isn't much 'junk programs' installed from Dell.

Just throw Ubuntu on it. Download the Live CD to try it out...I did and I love it, never going back to Windows.

The write-up I recommend can be found here:

This is probably the best one I've found, and doesn't contain any dubious information that I've seen.
If you need any help, let me know.
