    the 1735 would be nice.

Too bad ....i was hoping that the XPS' exclusive look would last just a tiny bit longer.

I'm still waiting for the Latitude E.

But look at the naming scheme...I'm wondering if the 1535 would be better than the 1530, because if they were to bring in a successor to the 1530, it can't be called a 1535 because that name is already taken. Just like how it was when they made the jump from 1520 to 1525. But this is unfair man, I was just about sold on a 1530 and now this, confusing my choices even more because I know that as soon as I get a 1530, they'll refresh the XPS line.

Are you kidding me, the XPS M1330 has now watched three Inspiron revisions whilst pondering its own future.

I want to see both the Blu-Ray drive and backlit keyboards lifted and dropped into an M1330 revision ASAP.

With regard the overall naming conventions that Dell now use, what's confusing about them?

One's called the 'Inspiron 15xx', one's called the 'Vostro 15xx' and one's called the 'XPS 15xx'. The numbers alone only describe the product version, not the demographic.

The Inspiron 1520, 1525 and this 1535 have all appeared during the life of the XPS M1330 to my knowledge.

I wasn't refering to the M1530. But the next XPS M1530 will likely take it's cues from a revised M1330 as this generations did.

the blu ray is not possible, too much power consumption, and the backlit keyboard desparately needed.that keyboard needs to implemented into all models.

Yeah, sorry - I meant the 1530, but you'd replied my post before I fixed it :p

What I meant to say was that I somehow doubt they'll completely switch the XPS line SO soon. It's barely been a year, and barely a few months for the 1530. I'd say it'd be more likely to just see new processor incorporation, perhaps a backlit keyboard, BT 2.1, but somehow I don't think an entirely new line refresh makes sense.

    But that's just me :p

Crap! And i just sold myself on getting a xps 1530 too; this likely means an upgrade in the xps line, but i wouldnt know when, I ordered my xps 1530 on april 29th... its still in production; what should i do? Cancel and wait it out, or just get it?

    My core specs:

id say it depends on how bad you need the notebook, and how long your willing to wait, they could take a long time to redo the XPS and on dells website, you still cant purchase one of these new inspiron style laptops yet.

and its technology the minute you order something its outdated and something new is already on the way.

i just put in a 200gb 7200 rpm hdd and now you are able to buy a 250 gb 7200rpm drive, just an example, this all happend within 2 months, could be do to lack of research on my part though too. like i said just an example.

these designs seem like they are suited towards business use, maybe due to the sharp corners. from the pictures... i'd still prefer the current xps laptops over the inspiron redesign

This is crazy how fast they are making new models! I'm not complaining at all but for real! Less than a year and they have sold 4 different models for 15" inspirons! 1505, 1520, 1525, and now 1535!

A Blu-Ray drive is going into these new 14, 15 and 17" Inspirons. A 'lesser' product in both marque and machine.

    It'll go into the M1330.

That's precisely what I'm expecting. There isn't a lot wrong with the design, some flaws might get ironed out but I'm mostly after some fresh innards. The most the M1330 has seen in nearly a year are Penryn chips, which weren't much to get excited about in reality.

'Centrino 2' implies Display Port, Wi-Max, GigE, and faster, cooler, more efficient processing. This leaves the door open for a Blu-Ray drive to bolster that HDMI port and perhaps even a GPU update to support it. There are also 500GB notebook drives starting to circulate, and 1440x900 resolution LED panels on 13.3" rivals that have already reached the market.

In my opinion there is a lot of scope for development within the existing design now, and that's why I haven't taken the plunge on the M1330 yet. After the lacklustre affair that was the Penryn chip release I realised that Montevina/Centrino 2 and its inherrent support for most of the important emerging technologies would be the thing worth waiting for, prior to making my investment.

I only hope I'm not disappointed. Based on the current form of both the new Inspiron and Latitude I think there's good reason to be excited for the M1330's future.

Will they have dedicated graphics cards? If they don't...it's kind of a moot point for some of us.

I mean at least an 8400m GS/9-series equivalent would be good.
