Yeah, I didn't realize that when I got mine, though I kind of did need it urgently because I was about to shoot myself having nothing to do in the lab and no way of taking my data around with me.

I'm not expecting a full out redesign with new model numbers etc like we're seeing with the other lines, either, just the new hardware in the same or very similar frame.

We'll see what happens when they refresh :p

Well, it's a computer rendering from what I can tell, and I doubt that we'll see an LCD quite like that.

I'm just thinking though. What would the prices be like? I got my current XPS (m1330, T7500, 3GB RAM, 160 GB 7200 RPM HD, FP Reader, Intel 4965, Bluetooth, LED) for about 1099 + warranty + tax at the outlet. I don't see the new Montevinas being *anywhere* in that range except perhaps at the lowest spec... and even then with all the new gigabit lan, BT 2.1, etc - maybe even not then?

Dell needs to come out with a smaller Inspiron model. A 12.1" or 13.3" would be nice. Dell also needs a laptop to compete with the hp mini note and asus eee pc.

    I kind of like that.

Makes the screen look larger without the M1330/M1530 distracting silver bumpers. Its a much cleaner look. I think the new screens will turn out exactly like the pictures.

No one can ever say that DELL is the beige box provider now.

does anyone know when the new latitudes will be coming out?

I am asking because my dad said his company is switching to dells (instead of the ibm think pad, or lenovo) and he said he would be getting a latitude.

yes, there's a timeline in one of the posts on engadget. i think the first ones are mid june (14" and 15") and the 12" and 13" follow in Sept.

That looks like the 1735. No fancy edge to edge 'glass fascia' there. Disappointing, if entirely expected.

That is one ugly avatar, but in the end it's all a matter of opinion.

I think it's a mistake that Dell is offering to have the "full glass edge-to-edge" option after reading the Lenovo U110 review. Good thing it's just an option. Wouldn't be able to stand having a shaving mirror as the standard and only option for a screen...

I see what you're saying, and I think that the flush screen will come, but I also think that it will look a bit different, since those edges look like they could cut you. I'd also expect some bumpers somewhere.

Anyone knows anything about the Videocard of the 1735's will be?would it be a 8600gt 256mb gddr3 already,as supposed to the ddr2 currently on the 1720's

coz, am planning to buy the Inspiron 1720,if the 1735's will be due on June 6th,you think its worth the wait for the 1735 for it being more cooler design and backlighted keyboards, newer processor technology, and other tech specs.....

any news also for the xps 1530 to be upgraded within this year as well........any scoop on that also?

    thanks all

    cheers

Even if it did have ddr3, the 1720 is currently really cheap. You may want to get the 1720 (even with ddr2) now because you can get a good deal on it.
