    Hi everyone.

I want buy a Inspirion 1440, can i replace the cpu with a Intel T8100 SLAYP?

The mainboard supports it? Someone already did it, T8100, T8300, etc.?

    Thank you so much.

The 1440 has a 45-Series chipset, so you can use any 35W or lower Socket P processor. This includes the T8300 and T8300. Quads and Extremes will most likely not work.

I have read the 1440 service manual and it's so hard to replace the processor, requires practically totally dissasemble of the system.

Also the Vostro 1320 with Celeron 900 is very cheap, and easy to upgrade the processor, like my actual Aspire 5315 (and i don't need an extra Pentium Dual Core or Core 2 Duo T6XXX, so is no worth a Vostro or Inspiron with that).

I want a small computer (12-14"), and the Vostro 1220 is it hard to upgrade like the inspiron 1440; so, i think Vostro 1320 is my best option from Dell.

Thank you so much for the answer, Commander Wolf.

Yes i have read that service manuals, and the service manual of inspiron 1440 and 1545, viewing that only vostro 1320/1520 and inspiron 1545 it's easy upgrade cpu (not total dismantle like Inspiron 1440 or Vostro 1220)... But after this Acer 5315 i don't want a 15" screen like Vostro 1520 and Inspiron 1545. And, in my country, the Studio 14/14z doesn't exist (only the 15 and 17 version)...

Also, sorry my bad english, i'm from Mexico, and i know the central question was about the upgrade of inspiron 1440, until today that I stumbled upon the Vostro, which certainly have all i need and this week has free shipping (while the Inspiron's not).

The Vostro 1220 or 1320 as I want them out (with Celeron 900, upgrading to my T8100 processor by myself) in around USD$500, while the same inspiron with things like the Pentium Dual Core T4300 (that i not ever use and i don't want loose time selling them), at around USD$700. Even the same Vostro's 1220/1320 with the Core 2 Duo T6670 is at around USD$770... Considering I already have in my possession almost the T8100, I think my best option is the Vostro 1320 with Celeron 900. The only part missing is the LED Screen... whatever...

    Greetings :)
