The problem isnt actually with my computer but my computer illiterate friend just called asking for help. According to my friend every time he sets it down the dvd drive ejects. It was purchased in August of 2009 and was treated very well and never dropped or abused in any way. I had him do a virus and spyware scan and nothing Windows is also to date. Im not really sure what else to check. Im guessing theres something physically wrong since it only happens when set down. Can someone tell me about the warranty process? Would i have to ship the entire thing back or can they just mail me a replacement and i mail the bad one back?

Sounds to me like your friend is unintentionally pressing the tray button when he/she sets the laptop down. It doesn't take a hard press, you barely touch it on some units and the tray opens.

I had a laptop that used to do that to me. I had to slam it closed so it would stay locked.
