Can someone help me out because i got to phone dell this week to return my laptop and im not sure which one to get now the vostro 3400 or the new studio 14. the inspiron 1464 gets too hot, the fan comes on every 30 seconds and then off for 30 seconds etc... all i want is a laptop that does not overheat. ive looked on forums and ive read that the vostro is basically the inspiron but with aluminum casing and the fan is in the same spot as opposed to the studio where it at the back. PLEASEEEEE someone help me choose i want this to be my last laptop for the next 3 years atleast cuz my last laptop before this was a gateway, i know bad choice.

get the studio 14, likely it will have the i5 processor. from the reviews i've seen it's a solid system. i haven't received mine yet but i'll let you know when i get it. good luck

Lots of processors in a tight space = lots of heat = lots of fan.

This is the story of the 1464 which packs the hot-running i3 processors in a tight 14" form factor. In fact, I am impressed that Dell engineers have been able to keep the machine as cool as they have. The fan is part of this story.

If you want less fan noise, best to go with a larger form factor and slower processor speed / fewer processors. An i5 is likely to run even hotter than the i3.

you can go for the 1464 one... i hav got mine abt a week bak... the fan noise hardly noticable... infact... i haven't heard any sound till now....

    btw... i liked the 3400 outlook more than 1464... though i got a 1464... :p
