Well, as if learning about the new Dell Inspiron 13R, 14R, 15R, and 17Rs wasn't enough, now Dell has seen fit to introduce a more pedestrian version of the 14R... called the 14V. Made for students and the "working class" (I love ChiCom translations), it is available with i3, i5, or Celeron processors.

And now, for your viewing pleasure, a link to the cake.

So, we have the Inspiron V line, the Inspiron R line, and... frankly Dell... I don't really care what the hell you call it, but would you please cobble together a 13-14" screen, with an i5-540, switchable ATI HD 5650, backlit keyboard, 4+ hr battery, multitouch, bluetooth, HDMI, and WiDi... please.

Another design where the cooling vents are blocked when the lid is open.

And yet another new Insprion, the M301Z... this one is an AMD Neo Turion/ATI 4225 model that a number of manufacturers are configuring. I like the look of the design but IMO the specs are more appropriate for an 11.6" or 12" (Acer is putting these same components into an 11.6" subnotebook).

There is still the influence of the mini 10 redesign, but the butt has been scaled down a bit. The look is very nice. At ~ $1,000 I have to wonder about the price and what market this is aimed at. The design, however, would be a good starting point for a new studio xps 13. :D

    Bronsky

EDIT: After having multiple cups of coffee I reread the Article on the M301Z. The price in the article was in Singapore dollars. The M301Z should cost around $700 USD. That changes everything. This would make a nice business machine and is priced just about right.
