Hey, could a couple of Inspiron 15 7559 owners try a little experiment out for me? I have had 2 units that both have this issue, and I was wondering if anyone else might have it as well. It's not very noticeable, but once you notice it it's hard to ignore.

I've had multiple people on reddit confirm that they also notice this behavior, as well as some people on the Dell forums, so it really doesn't seem to be an isolated issue (also the fact that my original unit had it as well as the replacement unit). This forum seems to contain the most Inspiron 15 7559 users by far, so I'm curious as to what the results will look like here.

    The steps are as follows:
    1. Go in a very quiet room.

    2. Make sure you don't have anything plugged into the headphone jack.

    3. Mute Windows volume.

    4. Play a youtube video (or any other media with sound).

    5. Stick you ears near your speakers and see if you hear any faint static noise.

I've tried using the Dell audio drivers, as well as the ones from Realteks site, as well as the generic Windows drivers, and the issue happens with all of them, so it doesn't seem to be software related.

The static noise disappears when you plug something into the headphone jack.

At this point I've just decided to live with problem by disabling the speakers in the Windows audio settings instead of muting (and the return period has passed), but I'm wondering just how widespread this issue is.

    Thanks.

Yes, I noticed the issue awhile back, doesn't really bother me because like you said it's relatively difficult to notice unless in a super quiet room, or if you're not using headphones. I only use my laptop on the road and while using always have headphones/earbuds plugged in. So meh. Would be nice to see Dell release a fix however.

I can't tell if the lack of responses means:
    a) people don't have this issue with their machines,
    b) they don't care enough to check if they have the issue, or
    c) they do have the issue but don't want to admit that their machines have a defect (albeit a relatively minor one)

I'm leaning towards C as pretty much anyone who has responded to me (on reddit/dell forums, and the one response in this thread) has confirmed that they do have the issue. So far I have not had a single person respond to me that they do NOT have the issue.

I would assume b, your asking people to do a bit of work for an issue that won't be apparent most of the time.
