i've got a strange problem,
i recently formatted an inspiron 1501 but the drivers for the wifi won't install. before i formatted, i tried ctrl-f11 hoping i wouldnt have to format myself, but it didn't take.
did the commands change? i know DELL's restore partition is still there, but i have no idea how to access it. the original reinstallation CD that came with the inspiron 1501 was lost, so i used another 1501's CDs and was able to reinstall windows xp, but my only problem is the DELL WLAN mini card won't install....
any suggestions? i've read through several pages of related search results and found nothing that directly helps me...

Did you check Dell's website?
-
yes i have, they do not work, which is why i ended up here asking you great folks on NBR before i call overseas to DELL tech support.
-
Try this 1501 driver link if it works. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R151522&SystemID=INS_PNT_1501&servicetag=&os=WLH&osl=en&deviceid=8041&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=5&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=5&fileid=202823 or this one http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R151519.EXE

I owned a 1501 and the wifi drivers on the cd that come with the system works. Do you have the drivers and application cd?
-
well the CDs that came with the system are lost.
i used a CD that came with a different 1501, the drivers on this CD does not work.
the system i need restored, i put its service tag number into DELL.com, and the page it took me to for drivers, they do not work.
i've yet to try the links provided by escalera. i will post updates.
thank you -
i have tried everything here and none of them work...
WEIRDEST thing is.. when i log into my dell account, pull up the service tag for my laptop... it does not display drivers for the wifi, only the LAN.... -
alright paul i can help you this might make you a little upset but just read through theres alot of hope.
my names wade and im a PC spec.
what you did what you deleted a "hidden partition" and it needs to be reformatted if you have a warenty on it call dell technical support and they can reformat it for you.
you can reformat it yourself but it takes a bit of pc prior knowledge and i suggest you be prepared or have some help.
i dont kno if youve done this already but do a diognostics test on it.
that should be able to help you through it.
my number one suggestion is getting some help.
from dell or a technical support company.
best of luck
