Hey everybody! This is my first post and I was wondering what you all had to say about the Inspiron 1501? I am thinking about purchasing one from the Dell Outlet, and they can be had for about $400. I think that is an excellent deal, but I have also been looking at a Compaq from Circuit City for $50 more and the only difference between the two would be the hard drive (60GB vs. 100GB). I'm pretty sure that I will get the Inspiron, as I had bad luck with my previous HP laptop (ze4427wm) and the Dell would match my Dimension E521 desktop better. Thanks for the suggestions!

from the looks of it, thats not bad for simple everyday computing and i dont think the price will go down any further before disappearing

i would go with dell and try to ask for one with windows XP instead of vista basic because even basic wastes memory for no reason

Yeah I had Home Basic on my E521 and was not happy with it. I have a couple of XP Home CD's so I will most likely just install that on the 1501. I will most likely upgrade to 2GB of RAM cause 512 just ain't gonna cut it.

$400 for this computer is pretty expensive.
about 1 month ago i bought a brand new Inspiron 1501 with TL-60 CPU, 1GB and Vista Home Premium for $512 after tax and upgrading to 2GB by myself the final price turned into $600.
I like the Inspiron 1501, but Im gonna sell it and replace it with a Vostro 1400.
and if i remember correctly just couple of days ago they were selling a brand new Inspiron 1501 with TK-53 , 1GB, and Vista Home Premium for $449.

I can't seem to find the model selling for $449 on Dell's site. If they have one going for that, I would purchase it immediately! That's a steal.

I purchased a Inspiron 1501 for $449. It was a Dell link I found from a website after doing a Google search. For the money it's a fantastic buy, I love everything about the computer.

My problem was I purchased the 1501 before the Vostro's came out. I also ordered a $599 Vostro 1500. When my 1501 arrived I had all intentions of not opening the box and returning it to Dell. But Dell gave me $75 off of my purchase so the 1501 costs me $374. :D

I'm still waiting for my Vostro as I plan to keep that one.

The Vostro 1000 is the Vostro model comparable to the Inspiron 1501. And I'd get the Vostro 1000 in preference to the Inspiron 1501... the Vostro should have better build. But that is a great deal on the Inspiron 1501.
