For some strange reason, HD cannot be access during normal laptop operation. So have to hard power off, then power on. HD is not detected, so F1(retry..doesn't work) or F5(diag).. So F5, it shows HD is DST short test, HD error 1041. Finish F5, then reboot. HD is detected and reboots fine.

error 1041 means HD is bad. But after F5 and reboot, HD is fine. But if no F5 then HD is not detected.

Is this sign of HD going bad slowly ?? (never heard of such thing. either good or bad HD)

Bad or loose HD connection ?? Reseated HD three times already.

    HD controller going bad ??

Funny thing is after F5(diag), HD is always detected.

I had bad battery, so replaced with new battery and AC power. Still HD not detected sometimes.

    Mystery !!!
    Any help please ???
