Hi, I recently purchased an Inspiron 1505 with a 256Mb ATI x1400 graphics card and the WSXGA+ screen option because I do a lot of photo editing, etc. However, at its native resolution of 1680x1050, documents and websites are practically unreadable because of the small size. I've tried increasing the DPI but that doesn't help with websites and other things only get distorted. The only way I can view webpages normally is to use the zoom feature and this has become annoying (Mozilla doesn't even have this option). I've also tried reducing the resolution to 1280x768 which is what my old laptop was but because that's not this computer's native resolution, everything appears blurry. Ideally I would like things to appear how they do on a standard 1280 resolution, even if that means keeping my high resolution and enlarging things somehow.
My question is what can i do to make the 1280 resolution not blurry or the 1680 resolution more readable? For anyone who has this type of screen, what ideal settings do you have it on? I can't imagine someone being comfortable viewing webpages at this highest resolution without squinting. Any help would be greatly appreciated because if I can't fix this problem then I'm going to have to return the laptop. Thanks.

Theres no real way to fix the problem without it being a hassle. IE7 has a zoom feature that works quite well which is similar to the built in windows zoom, or you can try to enable Cleartype if it isn't enabled yet.

Otherwise the only other option is to bring it out of the native resolution which makes things blurry.

I would return it and get a screen your comfortable with, personally I find the 1280x800 resolution to be perfect.
