Have a 1505, wiped the hard drive clean, and really cleaned up to add space. Still works pretty well. Now I cannot connect to internet as it is local connection only. It has windows vista. I did a search and supposedly Vista can have that problem after re-doing hard drive. I am connected to DSL thru wi fi. My provider is Comcast. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Did you install the drivers for the wireless card?

Connect your computer to the comcast modem with a network cable, download all available drivers for wireless cards for your laptop by service tag, one of them should work and install the wireless card for you.

I had a similiar model and if you don't have the wifi driver but M$ wifi driver it will not work you have to load the wifi driver to make the wifi card to work and connect. Check with Dell support download site and download the right driver and that should get your wifi back. Also there on dell site if you use your Service tag you should get to the right support to download the right drivers for your laptop hardware to work correctly.

Tell us what wifi is inside the dell then? Since we have no service tag to referrence we can't help to know what wifi hardware and driver you need??? You need to use your Service tag at Dell and tell us what the hardware specs are and what wifi it has to know more about your computer.

Since there is hard time giving you help your going to have to call comcast your provider and have them check your internet wifi since you stated it works are you friends place that would mean your own wifi is not set right or has failed or there is no wifi connecting to the internet.
