I'm a first time laptop user so this is probably common knowledge, but does the boot time of the laptop change in comparison to running straight off the battery, and being plugged in?

Also, would anything else slow down if you're just running off of the battery?

    Thanks.

Same with both of my HP's. You're running Vista, right? When I boot from battery, (both 2G RAM) I get a black screen for a while, then my desktop.

Yeah, mine seems slower on battery too...guess it has to do with Vista's power management feature where it slows the CPU to conserve power on battery.

It's normal. Laptops don't run at max on batteries.

Typically, batteries are less wattage then the machine actually needs to run at full speed. And on top of that, laptops are designed to automatically 'slow down' certain features to conserve power. But you can change those settings within the OS.

    Vista doesn't help.. LOL
