Which is going to be better

The 2GB RAM Dual Channel or the 3GB RAM option that looks new for dell.

I will be getting the T7300
    256 Nvidia

Don't double post. Either use this thread or the original thread you created with the same question.

3GB would be better, but 2GB are basically just as good. I doubt you'll see much of a difference.

there was almost no difference going from 2gb to 3gb.. now i wish i save the extra 100$ i spent and left the 2gb in there imo.. i have 4gb right now showing 3.58 so i can speak from experience take it for what you will.. i saw almost no gains in any tests i have run yet.. yes it improves a it but nothing to be amazed at..

no. if this was true how could you get 3gb of ram? 1.5gb sticks do not exist and laptops only have 2 ram banks so you cant have 1gb x 3

I would ask what OS are you running to know how much memory to put in also if you have integrated graphics that share memory (which you have an actual dedicated card, so blah). XP runs just fine with 2GB. Vista tends to lag and slow down alot doing things with 2GB. With the price of memory today being as low as it is, why not just buy the 4GB (2 x 2GB) and put it in your machine? Granted 32bit versions of windows don't fully utilize all 4GB, think of future upgrades. Later on down the road you install a new version of windows or something else that leaves you going damn, I should have put in 4GB a while ago. Also, if you are ordering a new Dell laptop, why upgrade your memory options through Dell? 4GB of memory from Dell is usually a $150 upgrade option. 4GB of memory can be bought for $75 brand new online and installed yourself in less than 5 minutes (it tells you how to do it in your Dell book with pictures...go figure). Do you honestly think Dell uses the top name brand memory in their machines also? I have to rant on Best Buy also, $40 for a memory install...come on that is just retarded (had to throw that out here, I am an IT and everytime I go there I ask them questions about things that should be obvious to any computer savvy person and they don't know crap, makes me angry that they take advantage of people with their prices). As far as Vista and memory. I have installed 2 of my co-workers computers from 2GB to 4GB of memory both running vista and noticed an extreme difference (to the human eye) on load times with several apps (which used to hang forever with 2GB). And as far as the sticks being the same, size wise is nothing to worry about. Mixing different brands of memory could cause potential problems due to the clocking (timing tables) of the memory itself being different. I had installed different brands of memory on a desktop and had it crashing alot due to memory conflicts.

I personally find 2gb in Vista acceptable (clean install), but since RAM is so cheap now, you might as well go for more.
