I know it has been asked A LOT. I just wanted to re-ask the question.

Has anyone found a driver for the Nvidia 8600M GT graphics card that will work on Windows XP AND that will allow the computer to come out of standby when the lid is opened. I have some working drivers but the laptop wont come out of standby and it is driving me crazy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    :)

The system won't just turn on by opening the lid, you need to press the power button...

He's talking about standby. In Vista if you close the lid while logged in it puts the system in standby, and as soon as you open the lid it comes back to life. Unless you're saying in XP it doesn't do that, but I wouldn't know..

And as far as drivers go, go to the forums at laptopvideo2go.com and read up on which drivers would be best there.

XP behaves in the same way. Opening the lid while in standby (not hibernation) causes the laptop to turn on.

Which XP driver are you using.

When I open the lid after it has been in standby I can see that the system is waking up but (hdd light active and noise) but screen stays black no matter what I do (even if I hit the power button).

My only solution is to hold the power button down till it turns off then do a complete restart :(

^Yeah the 16x.xx series seems to work, along with 158.xx.
