I recently decided to dual boot my inspiron 1520 laptop with XP (Vista came preinstalled), and everything is working great except for my audio. As I have the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 card, none of the Sigmatel drivers work.
I'm wondering if anyone knows which drivers I should use, or of any possible fixes? As is, I'm missing "Audio device on high definition audio bus".
Thanks in advance.![]()

See if anything here helps
Dell forums link -
Thanks for that link. It's helpful considering I have the choppy sound issue with my Vista OS, but my most pressing issue at the moment is finding the right Creative drivers that will work with my XP install.
Really, any link would be appreciated. I've been looking for hours to no avail. -
Unless you got the external Xi-Fi Xtreme card that plugs into the Express card slot, you are using the onboard Sigmatel.
The "Audigy" option is just a software upgrade, not an actual card.
I don't know of an XP version of the "Audigy" software.
Pretty much all the "Audigy" software does is give you more options for customizing your sound. Maybe there is other software that could do the same thing in XP, but I don't know what to recommend offhand. -
Oh, that's troubling to hear then.
Because every time I try to install Sigmatel drivers, I get an error message that my hardware isn't supported. So right now I don't have any sound support on my laptop while using XP.

Glad to hear it's working for you.

The only thing I noticed is the mouse pad is quite warm so warm that it makes my hand sweat and it just doesnt fill normal to me as i have used laptops in the past and they were not like that. I only bought it yesterday and got it today. I was wondering if the dell 1520 mousepad is warm as well. I am thinking about bringing the HP back but i dont want the dell either if it does the same thing. HP told me he get so warm because of all the stuff i have in it, but i dont think i can use it long term like that. So i am just wondering if the dells are warm as well. Thanks Guys ) -
I own a 1520 that has all the bells and whistles that would make it get warm. All I can say is that the keyboard and touchpad get MODERATELY warm, much cooler than most higher-end laptops. I don't have to worry, as I use a REAL mouse!
