Im thinking of buying an Inspiron 1520 with a Blu-Ray drive (not a writable one though), is it worth getting? Is it of substantial quality, what resolution would you recommend getting?
    Thanks

i wouldn't get it. first there is no dvi or hdmi output so you cant output it in hd to your tv, (it will down convert it to regular dvd quality). also for the price, you can get a standalone player. hd-dvd players are 99 bucks now, and are better than blue ray imo.

Why do you think HD-DVD players are better (other than the fact that they're not made by the rootkit company).

better because they output the same quality, have really good studios backing them and the players are really cheap in comparison to blue ray.

Why are you planning to buy Blu-Ray drive? Your answer to this question will make a lot of things clear. Further, since Inspiron 1520 doesn't have HDMI port, the Blu-Ray drive on this notebook may not be very useful. You can wait for Dell XPS M1530 if you really need Blu-Ray!
