Is there an Inspiron 1520 Bluetooth module available? It isn't an option when configuring the laptop but is there an add-on?

    Thanks

It is available on eBay and should be from Dell. I ordered it pre-installed on my 1520 from Dell...

Yes, you can find it in Dell's spare parts bin on their Web site.

I think it's called Bluetooth 355 module with edr 2.0 (enhanced data rate) or something like that. I've found it before, and will look when I get back if you can't find it. I have an exam to study for right now though :(

Thanks, I ask for a friend who's seriously considering an Inspiron 1520. But nowhere at Dell does it say its compatible with Inspiron 1520. Not that it isn't, but don't want to recommend it if it isn't compatible. Does the 1520 even have a slot for it? I know my Vostro 1500 does, and is essentially the same PC as the 1520, but maybe not everything is same.

yes it is compatibile, I have bought the part and done the install myself. Other than not being able to find the cable (it was hidden well), it was no issue. I bought the Vostro one, and it works fine

Are you sure it isn't an option when configuring the entire Laptop? Do they change the availability of options like that? Because I was able to have the module installed during the build and already in place when it got here. I have a 1521 - but a 1520 can be same - just Intel instead.

I don't even know if that is an option any more at this point, but if so, check it out?

I just checked, it's an option during configuration. You can also buy it as add on here.
