Inspiron 1520 Shipping question

Ok guys well , I just ordered my inspiron yesterday. Got the confirmation today. (aug 4th). my estimated shipping date is aug 22. And im going to college aug 16th. problem is my address there is a p.o box which they dont ship to. What are the chances of getting the machine before the 16th from your experience. I ordered an inspiron without any delay features and i think that 18 days too long for shipping a product since its such a large company.

Is it difficult to cancel an order with them or are there any ways to expedite.
can i simply change the shipping address on the 15th if i dont get it to my home. im in miami btw.

Oh and thier customer service is horrible . outsourcing is the worst thing that exist with large companies. just pay the minimum wage and let us enjoy good service jeez.

 

If you didn't go with any of the fancy colors you should get it before hand. I'm waiting on mine as well. Some people have gotten there's within 4 days others say 6 days... and there's one unfortunate guy who's been waiting 52 days.

Hmm where should i start, i am also in miami, you are right about customer servervice basically a run arround call 100 times you get 100 different answers, consider yourself lucky for even getting a shipping date in this month but dell seems to be picking up the speed on getting to orders, as for you getting it before that date i highly doubt it, but who knows, they will not expediate your shipping as they have not delayed your order. The best you can get otta them is maybe next day shipping free but other than that your not in a position to get anything else right now, let me put it this way there are people who ordered pc's June 29th and have a shipping date of august 28 (delayed twice)

 

I ordered the 28th, got black. Hopefully it comes this week.

 

Most if not all of the people who have been delayed chose a "color." So, don't worry yourself too much you went with black.

The cost of mine was 1448$ I believe and I used a 300$ coupon which lowered it to 1148$. That's with tax and shipping.

i ordered the 26th canceled reorderedthe 28th it shipped on the 1st gotit on the third... i order black 2.2 ghz wsxga+

My black shipped in 5 days, so you should get it way before the estimated ship date. Just check the automated status number.

 

Damn you guys answer so quickly this is an amazing forum. this should be dell customer service. lol . but so many different answeres. and ya the best i did get out of them was next day shipping.. which isnt too bad. I have faith it will get here before the 16th. Now if i want to add an item will it delay the order?? i want to change the 9 cell battery choice to the 9 cell plus 6 cell battery choice . can i do that with out risking my order or should i just leave it ??

My black went into the Boxing phase within 24 hours. I'm hoping it will ship on Monday.

 

I thought if you wanted to make any changes to your purchase, you would have to cancel and reorder....? *shrugs*

I hope you get your laptop before going up to school! I'm hoping for the same thing, except luckily I don't have a p.o. box address up north. Maybe you can organize something with dell in case your laptop ships out after the 16th. If you are taking a car with you then maybe you can see if DHL or w/e shipping provider it will be going through can leave the laptop at their building/warehouse/whatever so that way you can pick it up.... I really don't know if this is a plausible option, but i'm just throwing it out there.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the 3-5 day shipping is actually 3-5 days? My order is already late, and I haven't been able to recieve overnight shipping, or any compensation. I have been told, "it would ship within a week". I don't really know what that means.

Also, how do I go about getting compensation? I have seen that most people get overnight shipping plus coupons for $100 +. How is that possible. I always get, "It is not possible to recieve any compensation or shipping upgrades. All orders have been delayed and Dell is not offering this to anyone". Yet, the obviously are. What's the deal.

 

Once it ships your fine. DHL is pretty reliable. My 1520 came in three days, and my old Dell notebook arrived in four.

 

That is shipping to New Jersey is it not? Is that 3-5 business days or 3-5 day (days)?

 

Mine was sent to DHL on Friday from the Dell processing plant. I received it the following Monday. I guest they don't mean business days.
