I cannot tell what plug is required for these speakers...does my 1520 have this or will i need to buy an adapter of some sort to connect them?

    speaker connectivity:
    2OPTIONS:

    1. the traditional headphone jack method -- the standard in computing/consumer electronics. This is a regular 3.5 MM stereo jack.

    2. Use S/PDIF -- if you have speakers or a DTS/Dobly Digital decoder/amp/receiver/home theater system/etc. etc., and it has S/PDIF input, you can connect the laptop using this to obtain surround sound. you must buy a adapter from dell that plugs into the S-VIDEO

    FOR SVIDEO:

    1. If your tv has svideo in, then you can just use any old s-video. it will just use the four correct pins, and not connect to the wrong ones.

    2. COmposite/RCA: get a svideo to composite adapter or get a adapter from dell.

    3. Component Video: highest quality video. requires adapter from dell to plug into S-VIDEO

    ok:

dell sells a few adapters that connect to the S-VIDEO port:

    a. this adapter connects to the S-VIDEO port and allows your laptop to output with S/PDIF, composite, and s-video

    b. this adapter provides S/PDIF, and component outputs.

    ---edit---
    looked at your products

unfortunatly, your speakers won't work, no digital inputs. maybe if you added an external sound card or something....or a DTS decoder.

and...i have no idea about that cable.

Is the video quality using the the S-Video to Component adapter better than the 15-pin connection? or is it just to get the s/pdif audio output. The output from the laptop is s-video, the quality can't improve by using the adapter, can't it? It's pretty disappointing that there's no HDMI or DVI connection.
