    I own an Inspiron 1520(Intel T7250[2.0GHz], 2GB DDR2[667MHz] Dual Channel SDRAM, 160GB 7200rpm Seagate HDD).

    I want to know, if my system supports 800MHz RAM, what about DDR3 ?

    I also want to up my processor too, whats the best upper limit that I should get ?

    I am alittle new at this H/W Terminology so be GENTLE...

    Thanx

    If you put in 800MHz DDR2 it will downclock to 667MHz. It will NOT support DDR3, it is physically different than DDR2.

    For CPU I would look at the T9300.
    Though, why are you looking to upgrade? To fulfill a need, or just because?

    Are you shure that d3 is different from ddr2?, i¿ve heard they're the same, faster, but physicallly the same, ddr3 is compatible with ddr2 computers, well, that's what i've heard

    Thank U 4 the Reply

    There are mainly two reasons for the Processor Change:
    -> Longevity
    -> I'm Studying to be a Software Developer, but Not sure where this will go,
    Hence might as well get it done

    Yes... I am sure. DDR2 SO-DIMMs are 200 pin, DDR3 SO-DIMMS are 203 pin.
    DDR2 and DDR3 DIMMs are both 240 pin, but are notched differently and also not interchangeable.

    I figure if the T7250 is still working out for you, you should just hang on until you actually need something better. By that time, the price of a better CPU, like a T9300, will be more worth it.

    T9500 will work but its not cost efficient
