This is a novice question, but will my XD card fit into the SD card reader on my Inspiron 1520? I really don't want to have to buy an external reader for it but have found that so far it will not fit. I don't want to force anything in but thought that I should check whether it is indeed possible before I go and waste money. Thankyou.

Fairly certain the 1520 doesn't support XD cards. I haven't seen any Dell in a long time, if ever, that supported XD cards defaults. Usually it's just SD to boot.

:D Assuming you have the "8-in-1 card reader," these are the cards supported.

I have a 1420 with an 8 in 1 card reader, thought 1520 had the same. I use an x-d card from my olympus camera. It takes a little getting use to. There is a post on how to get the card in. Search and good luck
