I've been looking around for an alternative to the 1520 due to the delay and will not consider HP or Acer. Has anyone considered the Toshiba A200-ST2043 with the configuration below for $1,307?

Honestly, I would take that, and upgrade the HD if needed. Only downside is there's no option for N, but there are always other ways to get N on your computer.

DTM - I didn't find the A200-ST2043 on NewEgg or Amazon - where did you find it? TIA...

frankly after seeing the poor heat dissipation of a recent toshiba i bought(touchpad got way too hot), I dont know if i trust their products.
-
Hmmm. I've never heard of critical heat problems with the Toshiba. Thing is, I have an ASUS G2S, and I'm pretty spoilt in the heat factor.
-
Afterwards, choose customize. -
It's nice... but a lack of graphic cards upgrade.

Unless you cancelled your order I would just stick with the Dell. From what I have seen they appear to be one of the superior laptops in the "budget/mainstream" class.
-
The best workaround with the delays would probably be a vostro. It's the same as an inspiron but doesn't suffer from the delays. 24 hours from ordering it was in boxing stage for me.
-
How would the 256 MB card compare to the 8600m GT?
-
Just order a black 1520 and hope you get a good screen.
-
I am tired of Dell. My mom is on the phone cancelling the order....ORDER CANCELLED!
-
Geez lol. Lucky for me I went with ASUS, avoided the rush, but then again, I paid $2000 for it.
-
I was thinking of going down the path of the ASUS G-series, but after hearing about these quick Vostro shipments... it saves me $500.

The 3500pt for the 8600 is the GDDR3 version (MBP& GxS )a DDR2 8600GT scores about 2500.

This Toshiba comes with a free* backpack, printer, and thumbdrive.
*After rebates lol -

Screen resolution is 1440x900, the benchmarks run at 1280x854 which is the default settings for me.
Inspiron 1520 alternative? Toshiba A200-ST2043
