I've been looking around for an alternative to the 1520 due to the delay and will not consider HP or Acer. Has anyone considered the Toshiba A200-ST2043 with the configuration below for $1,307?

Office Software: Microsoft® Office 2007 Suite Ready
    Memory: 2048MB PC5300 DDR2 667MHz SDRAM (1024MBx2)
LCD: 15.4" Diagonal Widescreen XGA TruBrite® display with High Brightness (1280x800)
Graphics Controller: ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 2600 with 256MB GDDR2 discrete memory
+ up to 255MB allocated shared graphics memory using ATI HyperMemory™ technology
    HDD: 80GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial-ATA)
Optical Media: DVD SuperMulti (+/-R double layer) drive
    Mini-PCI/WiFi: Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (802.11a/b/g)

Honestly, I would take that, and upgrade the HD if needed. Only downside is there's no option for N, but there are always other ways to get N on your computer. :)

Hmmm. I've never heard of critical heat problems with the Toshiba. Thing is, I have an ASUS G2S, and I'm pretty spoilt in the heat factor. :D

Unless you cancelled your order I would just stick with the Dell. From what I have seen they appear to be one of the superior laptops in the "budget/mainstream" class.

The best workaround with the delays would probably be a vostro. It's the same as an inspiron but doesn't suffer from the delays. 24 hours from ordering it was in boxing stage for me.

How would the 256 MB card compare to the 8600m GT?

Geez lol. Lucky for me I went with ASUS, avoided the rush, but then again, I paid $2000 for it.

I was thinking of going down the path of the ASUS G-series, but after hearing about these quick Vostro shipments... it saves me $500.

At what resolution? That one little thing has much to do with it. I could also say the 8600GT GDDR3 has hit 5400 in 3DMark06(which is pretty darn amazing) by a user in the ASUS forum, under what conditions ;)

Screen resolution is 1440x900, the benchmarks run at 1280x854 which is the default settings for me.
