I have year old 1520 with Nvidia 8600M GT Graphics Card. Recently around couple of weeks back, I upgraded the Driver from Dell site (I am in India) to 175.97. I didn't realized the performance degrade for a week or so as there was no difference while doing day 2 day stuff. I saw the huge difference while watching movies. Quality of movie was really really bad and I could see the movie frame by frame.
So I checked the Device Manager and could not find the Graphics Card there, I could only see the "Standard VGA Adapter". Called Dell CS and they replaced the Graphics Card as well as the Motherboard in a Day.
The Dell engineer also could not find the Graphics after Driver 175.97 installed. He found the Graphics Card only when he installed the driver from the Dell CD, which came with the laptop last year. May be some old Driver.
So looks like the issue was with Driver but I got the new MB and GPU replaced by Dell anyway. Not that I am complaining. I tried upgrading to the latest Video Driver from Dell and same Issue occurs.
What should I do? Should I use some other driver?
