Hi. I have a DELL Inspiron 1520 laptop which no way has a 5.1 sound card in it. I need to buy creative GigaWorks G500 or Inspire T6200 5.1 speaker
    system depending on my budget.

but before that i need a 5.1 card. hence i have decided to go for X-Fi Surround 5.1 as it has USB interface.

Well, please let me know if i use above combination , will i get a pure 5.1 sound or it will be an simulated 5.1 sound ?

    kindly answer my doubt.

It should do true 5.1 surround... or else what would be the point?

Just make sure you set it up correctly.

also note that i am using Vista ultimate. so will those creative USB card work on Vista Ultimate ?

I haven't personally used that USB sound card, so I can't tell you for certain. But usually with 5.1 surround you can run tests, plug in all the speakers then you can play each speaker individually through the Creative program, then probably some type of sound that will move around you via the speakers... if you understand what I'm saying.

Just find the software and drivers for the USB sound card and you should be good to go.
