Yes you can install windows xp on it, all you have to do is reformat your harddrive so it erases vista and install xp.

I don't think they will be, but I am not 100% certain on this.

XP does not support dx10. MS forces you to use their crap OS if you want DX10.

I'm going with vista since I added 4GB of RAM... Dell used to charge 1000 AUD for that but now only 500 which is strange, all the laptop range had a massive price drop for some reason.

What I find weird is, the dell forum here got 6 pages of thread while I had a sleep :D ..Time to read!

If you like black, get a business Vostro (which is identical to the 1520 but in all black). Then you can have it come with XP with all the drivers on it. And, at least for the times I tried it, the Vostros were significantly better deals than the 1520's. and I'm told they don't care at all if you're not actually a business.

Omg I just finished installing XP and I've spent the past 4 hrs trying to track down drivers for this....no luck at all. I'd say hold off on installing XP for a while cuz Dell's driver support sucks so bad right now...and I was really hoping to use XP instead of Vista :(

Try the XP drivers that Kysterama put together. He has them ready for download on filefront.

It wont kill your warranty, but chances are you wont receive technical support with a different OS than what your system shipped with installed. If anything they will make you install Vista before you are helped.
