So after seeing some good LCD screens, I realize how bad my grainy screen is. I've had the laptop for about 8 months now and am trying to get something done about it.

I talked to Apu or whatever his name was and was getting the runaround. I gave him the LG part number (XK309) and he repeatedly stated that it doesn't exist. The only one still around is the Samsung. At one point, he even said it was a perception problem for me. I started yelling at him for saying it was all in my head and demanded that he get his boss on the phone, who conveniently was not there. I'll supposedly get a call within 24 hours.

My question is: can I still get the LG display? Is there a new part number I should be asking for?

    Thanks!

First, i dont think its funny making fun of anyone from india.

I think your time for a replacement is up. 8 months later and you decide you aren't satisfied...thats a bit much.

You should treat customer service people nicely in the future.

I was pretty nice up until he said the problem was in my head. As for making fun of him, I wasn't. His name was pretty close to that.

Yep, after your first 21 days its all over as far as getting a refund or a replacement. Personally I think its a problem mostly with the higher resolution screens but there are exceptions. Its just hard to get high numbers of panels that are all nice at the higher resolutions. Probably why HP does not bother with the higher res panels since they kind of like having QC on things like that. I'd take my wxga HP screen that is brighter, better contrast, and viewing angles over a grainy/dark/crap viewing angle dell any day.

I raised enough of a stink and got my screen replaced. They overnighted me a box and I overnighted it back on Thursday. Just got it back and I can't believe the difference. No graininess whatsoever. Under hardware ID for screen, it says LPLF300.

Just looking at this now shows me how bad my initial screen was.
