    My friend is thinking of getting either a Vostro 1500 or Inspiron 1520.
    Online configurations and price for both are roughly the same.

    Is there a difference between the two in terms of chassis construction?

    On Dell's website, the Vostro features magnesium-alloy exterior, spill proof keyboard and shock absorber technology. Theres no mention of this on the Inspiron?

    Specs:

    Vostro 1500

    Insprion 1520

    Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 2.0GHz, 2mb 800MHz FSB
    Windows Vista Home Basic
    15.4" WXGA+ with TrueLife (1440x900)
    Black Color Kit with no camera
    2GB DDR2 SDRam Memory
    160GB (5400rpm) SATA Hard Drive
    8X DVD+/-RW with CDRW Combo Drive
    Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT 256MB DDR2
    Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 Dual Band Minicard 802.11a/g

    It seems to be a no brainer the Insprion has better specs and costs less. Which would you prefer?

    To be simple:
    The Vostros are repainted Inspirons
    Here I'll list them like this:
    Vostro 1700 = Inspiron 1720
    1500 = 1520
    1400 = 1420
    1000 = 1501

    I was just pointing out that this was discussed many times before; therefore if you searched a little you can find what you were looking fore. SEARCH IS THERE FOR A REASON !

    Since you are too lazy to search or have no idea what search is for :p this is what I meant :
    Vostro 1500 more durable than Inspiron 1520?
    Inspiron 1520 vs Vostro 1500 build quality
    There are plenty of more threads like that.. so why create a new one ??

    Those existing threads answered some of my questions but not all. I did put up a poll for a reason (with the specs mentioned) and I want to obtain opinions from other users.
    If everyone was like you and searched everything to the last detail there wouldn't be any new posts would there? :rolleyes:

    Btw, the second link you posted "Inspiron v Vostro Build quality", if you haven't noticed, I did post there as well asking a question but I got no answers.

    I think you can configure the Inspiron for cheaper than that.... try the new $425 off $1399 coupon.

    you on,y get charged the restock fee if its either after the 21 days policy or if you simply just decide you dont want it.. but ........ there could always be something wrong with it (if you get my drift) if you simply just didnt like it then they dont charge a restock fee inside of the 21 days.

    right now if you are adding a lot def get the inspiron with the 325 or 425 off coupon it will be better price unless you are buying a base model then get a vostro and it will be cheaper. they are exactly the same minus the color
    yes ive owned both now
