Inspiron 1520 ship date?

Hi everyone,

I am ordering an Inspiron 1520 tomorrow (August 13th), and I am just wondering, about how long does it take for the laptop to be at my door. I'm in Quebec, Canada, and was wondering how long it took people with similar specs to get their laptop.

- Jet Black
-Core 2 Duo T7500, 2.2GHZ 4MB cache
-Screen: 15.4" WXGA (No TrueLife)
-2GB RAM
-Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 256MB
-Battery: 9-cell lithium ion
-Wireless: Intel 4965AGN
-No webcam
Hard Drive: 120 GB SATA @ 5400RPM

 

3-4 weeks at the least

 

Not necessarily since you ordered Jet Black as well as a matte display, I would say that if you're lucky you could get it within 1 or 2 weeks.

It depends on the parts that you ordered as well as Dell being honest with you with the delays. I am on my 3rd order. While I was ordering all three computers, the Dell Salesperson said that there are no delays on nothing. On two of my orders, I was delayed 2-3 weeks.

If you can wait a month and a half to do it. Then I would go for it. But if you want your laptop in a reasonable timeframe, order from somewhere else. Even though Best Buy is overpriced, they may be able to find you a system that is like the one you want to order. That is if you want the computer by Christmas and you don't want to be raped by the Dell CSRs every three weeks.

 

I did order it through my company, and since we buy a lot of equipment from Dell, I got a company discount, and went through a Dell account manager.

So would going through a Dell account manager make it any faster?

 

I ordered through my company's EPP program via Dell's EPP website. That was on July 4th. My ship date has been changed twice with the latest being August 28th. So, I guess, no, would probably be the answer to your question.

I am from Montreal.

I ordered my Inspiron 1520 on Aug 1 and the estimated delivery date is Aug 20. I have this feeling it's not going to make it for the 20th.

Also, I ordered a Belkin N1 Wireless-N Router with my notebook. The order was delayed twice already; from the 10th to the 15th to the 23rd.

If you order your notebook tomorrow, there is no way you will get it before September.

 

Are you sure ATR90? Because I did order a T7500 processor, and I do know that they aren't back ordered on the T7500 like they are on the T7300. I also picked Jet black and a Matte widescreen, which also isn't back ordered.

 

Well I just got my tracking number, so I can check out the status via the Dell site.

 

You got your tracking number already? And you ordered it yesterday? Something is not right in the Dell plant.

 

Actually, I ordered it today. Although it is through my company, and we have a Dell representative. My ESD is August 30th, but I have a feeling it will be earlier.

 

I have a question, this probably doesn't pertain to what you guys are talking to but im not sure what thread to put it in.

I got my service tag number. and i went to order status on my account page and clicked on my order number, this page came up with everything included in my laptop.
i scrolled down to see "HIGH RESOLUTION, GLOSSY WIDESCREEN 15.4" while i ordered 15.4 inch UltraSharp Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with Truelife.

is that just another name for it haha, or should i be worried they gave me the wrong screen.

 

Glossy and TrueLife is one and the same.

Don't worry about it. I ordered the same display as you and it is also written "HIGH RESOLUTION, GLOSSY WIDESCREEN 15.4".
