I'm not familiar with the normal operating temperature of Core 2 duos , but after monitoring the temp for a while it seems rather high. This laptop is only a few months old and the fans are working fine. Its been idling at around 49 C on both cores which isnt a problem. When its at full-load though, it jumps up to 70-73 C. The highest temp its gotten to is 76C. I overclocked my graphics card slightly I don't know if its somehow inadvertently heating up my processor. The gfx card only goes to 48C/65C though. From what I've been told the core duos are supposed to run fairly cool. If anyone could give me their opinion or the temperature your 1520s are at, it would be greatly appreciated .

76C is ok...for C2Ds personally I think that alittle on the warm side but some people disagree :p

You can try Undervolting...that can greatly decrease CPU temp :) Also check out the Cooling Guide . :D

I could be wrong but I read somewhere that the core duos can't be undervolted. That the lowest they can go is .95 V, which is what they are at from the factory.

ooo good point i almost forgot, NHC does work with undervolting SR notebooks at the moment......its undervolting not ''clock'' by the way :p 2 very different things.

Well if you are worried just read the cooling guid . :p

yeah that was a typo i edited. I'll probably pick up a laptop cooler in the near-future. I just wanted to make sure the temp is normal. Its been on a flat surface the whole time btw.

mine does the same exact thing yours does.

keep in mind that one fan has to cool the GPU and CPU.
The GPU heatsink is first (copper) and then the CPU (aluminum)

The BIOS can crank that fan if it really wants to - if you want u can feel the maximum by running the notebook diagnostics and after the memory tests selecting diagnostic tree or something like that...i forget, but it comes up with a list of tests and you can choose fan.
