    Hey,

In terms of Dell laptops, I am stuck between 2 possibilities: The Vostro 1500 and the Inspiron 1520. So now, I'm trying to create a list of the Pros of getting either. This list would be great for me, as well as others who are debating between about purchasing either.

Your help in adding to this list would be greatly appreciated.

    Pro's of Owning a Vostro:
-Choice of XP pre-installed as an OS
    -All black chassis and keyboard

    Pro's of Owning an Inspiron:
    -Choice of color
    -Similarly configured, Inspiron are cheaper

PS: I will be editing this with your responses, creating a larger list.
PPS: I know the chassis of the Vostro is composed of Magnesium Alloy. But how about the Inspirons?

I do not know about the 1520 being cheaper...I keep hearing the best price is highly dependant upon your hardware you are getting.

Anyway, other than the things you already mentioned I believe the machines are identical after that. Same insides, same materials (except parts of the shell).

In Germany its different. Here the Vostros are a lot cheaper than the Inspiron notebooks. I don't know why though

I'm doing similar comparisons between the 1700 and the 1720, and the Vostro comes out cheaper every time.

One note, though- unless I'm mistaken, the Vostro comes with a matte screen by default; if you want glossy, you have to upgrade to WUXGA for $150. The Inspiron can be configured with either matte or glossy XGA+.

The Vostro actually comes out cheaper, but has a worse hard drive. The Bluetooth upgrade for the Vostro ($80), is a lot more expensive than on the Inpiron ($20). I don't think I'll be using the Bluetooth, so maybe I'll switch it out for something, like a bigger hard drive, or my first LEGIT copy of microsoft office.
