What are the differences between Inspiron 1520 and Vostro 1500 other than the obvious color.

Any experience about the durability of Silver color of keyboard of the Inpiron 1520?

and also right now there is a price difference too. 1520 less expensive with $500.00 coupon (Vostro 1500 has only a $310.00 discount)

As far as the system goes, not one damn thing, all the exact same parts. Configurations vary, prices vary as well, both have different targeted audiences as well, one being business other being consumer.

Likely different support, not sure to be perfectly honest.

As far a 1520 paint durability, I've dropped and kicked mine, stepped on it, eat and use it at the same time, type on it really hard, and it still looks shiny new, I think I can safely say, perfection. Not as softcore as everyone claims, but don't be careless as I am because you are just asking for troubles..

I know that the Vostro has a magnesium alloy chassis, if I'm correct (which I may not be), the Inspiron doesn't. This is a major bonus to me. My wife's older inspiron has stress cracks on 4 different places on the screen, and other places on the chassis. I don't know how it got there, but I've got a nice little ding on the corner of the side of my monitor...I'd hate to think what would have happened had it been a plastic piece and not metal.

As B2TheEYo has said, there isn't anything different regarding the two systems. They're exactly the same saver for colour and configuration choices. In regards to construction, I can say they they're virtually identical, down to the Magnesium chassis.

In Canada, and maybe elsewhere, the Inspiron does not have a 30 day money-back return with no restocking fee, and does not offer optional Gold support. It appears also that only the Vostro offers "Dell Support Center," and "Dell Support." Finally, according to a Dell rep on chat, the "Keep your Hard Drive" option is not available on Inspirons, but is available on Vostros.
