Has anyone tried a similar hybrid dual drive with the good old 1520?

I have problems even installing windows (BSODs too fast to read msg; or corrupt files on install from USB)...
Just hoping if anyone can share some tips on getting it working.

It sort of glitches out and disappears from view for a while. bad drive?

    Hey denizenx,

did you follow the install guide that comes with the drive? Here's a link on how to do that: WD Black² Dual Drive – Solid State Drive + HDD Laptop Upgrade

Are you doing a fresh install of your OS or you are migrating your old one via cloning or in another way? Have you tried the drive on another computer with the SATA to USB cable to see if it works fine? I would suggest hooking it up to a computer with a working Windows OS and running WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool to make sure the drive is OK. I would run both the quick and the extended tests in order to check the drive's S.M.A.R.T. status as well as for any bad sectors. Here's a link: WD Support / Downloads / Other Products / Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows

Have you tried to rebuild the bootable flash drive and to create a new one with a fresh Windows .iso file?
