I've owned my Inspiron 1520 laptop for just about 2 months now, and it's running great. It came with 1 dead pixel, and I haven't found any new ones. Nothing has burned out yet, it seems pretty reliable.

The only issue I have noticed besides the Core2Duo-headphone issue is that the battery doesn't feel 100% secure when it's locked in place. It won't slide out, but I can move it by like 1/2 mm if I pick it up and grip the battery. I don't even have my battery plugged in when I'm using my laptop, so it doesn't bother me much.

I hope I have helped some of the prospective buyers.

I've had mine roughly the same time or longer now, and I have to agree, reliable all the way, no comedic issues, or hardware issues. besides for the whine problem like you mentioned which I've fixed by running RMclock in the meantime well Dell put together this 'bios fix'.

Yea I notice the same with with the battery, jiggles a little but ah well, I've seen worse..Like a Lenovo battery blowing up into flames at my friends desk..haha..good times?

My screen is sooo pretty, perfect really, no dead pixels, grain, leakage, nothing - flawless. Gotta love LG (currently worlds leader in flat panels).

Support and CS is great and responsive. Bent over backwards for me a few times.

I'd say in my experience, you'd be stupid not to give this notebook a shot.

My 1420 is working for me perfectly as well. Screen is just about perfect, no dead pixels, and almost no grainyness.
The battery in mine jiggles as well. No big deal, though.

B2Theyo there is a BIOS fix for the headphone jack? I got BIOS A03 a while back, and I don't think it did anything.

Yeah I run my laptop like 16 hours a day too, I'm surprised it hasn't blown up yet. :D
