Whenever I have a graphics intensive application running (such as Google Earth) or any video card intensive app, the right side of my computer starts making a "flickering" sound. I've narrowed it down to the graphics card.

Does anyone experience something similar, and is there any way to get rid of it?

    Again, this is NOT:
    1) The hard drive clicking
    2) CPU noise (I have RMClock on with Popup mode DISABLED and Popdown mode ENABLED
    3) Any peripherals I have attached.

Hummmm. Never heard of this happening before, but if it was happening to me, I'd play with the settings in the NVIDIA control panel...

I have a 1520 with an 8600m GT and this has never happened to me. Have you updated your video card driver?

This is a good place to look.

It's like a buzzing sound when a graphics intensive task is currently in action.

Running drivers laptop2go 169.09 on my 1520, XP SP2, all updates applied.
It's like a faint buzzing sound that comes from the graphics card.

Contact Dell about it; it's not normal. Since the computer is still under warranty, you can get it replaced.

    Hi crash,
I'm sure I could get it replaced, but it seems like a "abnormally normal" thing (like the CPU buzzing/whinning sound) and would like to explore with other 1520 owners before just simply returning it.

Good idea to check with others first. I haven't, however, heard any complaints about the GPU making noises here at NBR.
