    Howdy,

I recently purchased a Inspirion 1520 about a month ago.

    Intel Core2 Duo T7300 2.0 ghtz
    3 gigs of memory
    NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

    Running Windows Vista

Anyway I have the power settings set to put the computer to sleep when I close the lid, but when I close the lid it doesnt go to sleep, the screen just turns off. It doesnt even go to sleep when I select "sleep" from the start menu, the screen just turns off and the computer is still on.

It went to sleep perfectly when I closed the lid the first 2 weeks.

Is anyone else having similar problems?

Have you changed any drivers since then?

My 1520 wouldn't sleep either when in Performance or Balanced modes. I finally found the answer in digging into the advanced power settings and tweaking the Multimedia/Media Sharing options to allow sleeping. It defaults to going into "Away Mode," which shuts of the LCD but nothing else. You may check your settings.

If you change your power settings from one to another, you will need to note that each different power setting has it's own complete set of options. You'll need to set it in all the power options or turn it to that specific power plan in order for it to sleep.

Mine runs fine, but I'm running off the default drivers from the CD. If you updated your drivers, try reverting back to see if it makes any changes to the issue.

I went into the advance battery settings and changed the Multimedia/Media Sharing options to allow sleeping. It now sleeps properly when I close the lid.

    Problem solved! Cheers lynnskii! :D

I havent had any other problems with my 1520 so far. I think its great! :)
