    Hi
I currently have a Dell Inspiron 1520 with an Intel T7300 2.0 GHz processor, 4GB RAM and an NVidia 8600m GT graphics card. I am thinking of upgrading the processor, coz my new work involves a lot of 3D modelling and editing and I find the rendering etc going really slow too many times, plus I cant seem to run the planet simulation software I need to use at work coz it needs a better graphics card. It seems like my processor isnt up to the task so I need to upgrade it. Is it possible to upgrade the processor and if it is, how far ahead can I go and how can it be done? Also can I upgrade the graphics card and if so till what range?
    Thanks
    Ishan

You could upgrade to any of the 1st gen Penryns, but first flash your BIOS to the latest version ( Source) ( Method).
The 8600M GT is the best GPU available for the 1520, so you can't upgrade any further. Also upgrading the CPU won't give you much of a boost in performance for your current GPU-intensive tasks, so I guess you'll be better off buying a new notebook with a Quadro 2700M or Quadro 3700M for 3D-Modelling and stuff.
