My Inspiron 1521 is about three months old. The ten-key number pad, integrated into the keyboard, doesn't work. any hints?

Num lock has no effect. I've tried <Control>, <Alt>, <Fn,> <Alt,> even <Windows.> I don't see anything in "Control Panel." Any hints?

I'm particularly interested in finding the hidden keyboard characters that, in XP, I could bring up by using <Alt> XXXX from the ten key pad, characters like the Spanish "n with a tilde," etc. Once I get the key pad working, are those characters still there, or do I have to use the "character map?"

The 1521 doesn't have a 10-key. Do you mean the fn key option?

Turn on NumLock, press Fn key and you can write numbers.
