A friend is planning an Inspiron 1525 and wants to know if the 9 cell battery is worth the extra weight/size that it would cost.

Any idea how long you get with the 6 v/s the 9 cell battery in terms of time?

Get the 9 cell if your friend is going to be off the charger for longer periods. If weight is a big concern you can always just get the 6 cell now and try it out then get the 9 cell afterward.

Buy both. Use the smaller one when you are going to be plugged in most of the time. Use the larger one for extended periods away from a socket.

Your friend will be charged way more later if they don't get it when they get the laptop.

If your friend can afford it...get both. I think you'll only pay $50 more for the 6 cell and 9 cell. But if you have to buy the 9 cell afterwards, Dell will charge you $180. If you do alot of traveling with the laptop, it definately work it.
