The battery indicator light is blinking orange, and apparently my battery has become useless. I never actually use my laptap except at home, plugged in, not using the battery.

Question: will the laptop be damaged/impaired in any way if I simply remove the battery? I really don't want to pay for a new one (the laptop is a 3 years old, and the extended warrenty does not cover battery replacement).

No your laptop will not be, just realize if your AC adapter gets loose or pulled out, your laptop will instantly power off.

no it wont but at the same time keeping the battery in shouldnt hurt it, as long as you have it plugged in. and if you keep it in it keeps the battery port covered in a way.
