Hey guys, first time poster here..
I'm the proud owner of an Inspiron 1525 (Dual core 2ghz, 3GB Ram, Blu Ray blah di blah)... It's been going great guns since I got it in April, a real beast!
I've come across a problem though... the left button on the touchpad is playing up. When I click the left button the diagram of the left button on the little Dell Touchpad icon in the system tray lights up as if it's being pressed when it actually isn't. So it basically makes it impossible to use the touchpad because it then acts as if I'm holding down left click so it highlights everything. It's a real pain in the butt! The right clicker works fine.
Physically there isn't anything wrong with the button and it isn't sticking or anything like that. I tried reinstalling the drivers and it was ok for about 10 minutes and then just did the same thing.
Please help me people, I hate lugging my bluetooth mouse around with me, it's a pain. My post might be a bit hard to understand, so I might take picture or video to try explain it better, but I'm on a crap connection at the mo.
Thanks in advance![]()

So even though the button is not pressed the software thinks it is?
-
Exactly mate. The software thing is rendering the touchpad/buttons useless to use because it just highlights everything.
I uninstalled then reinstalled the driver and what not and it still didn't help either. -
i have the same problem on my 1525. when scrolling it hi-lights all the text and sometimes clicks a link when i havent.
-
Anyone have any ideas? -
I figured it out. I just got a 1525 and really disliked the touchpad. To fix the sensitivity (highlighting/clicking) issue, click the touchpad icon in the system tray. Next open touchpad settings. Disable tap to click. It really is a lot better once you change this setting.

Thanks for your efforts though -
i bet the only cure is to add a usb mouse. which sucks
-
i opened the properties of the touchpad and adjust the scroll speed and sensitivity which helped alot.
-
I'm using a bluetooth mouse at the moment, and yeah, it sucks!
I mucked around with the properties and scroll speed and everything but nothing has fixed it.
Can anyone help?!?! -
Please install these driver mentiond here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=363610 it has fixed the problem for me.
